LOI International Underwrites Mural For Happy Days Records Building

Mural Is Part Of Festival Of Arts Contest In Wayne County, Indiana

September 22, 2011 – GREENS FORK, IN  — LOI International, a marketing communications firm specializing in media technology companies, has underwritten a mural for the Happy Days Records building in Greens Fork, Indiana. Both are located on opposite ends of the same street in the downtown area.

The theme of the mural is “Long Live Cowboys and Recorded Music.” Greens Fork is home to Johnny Ringo, who was known as the fastest gun in the west. Roy Rogers is the main focal point on his horse, Trigger.  The owner of Happy Days Records, Perry Robertson, is known for his knowledge and collection on Roy Rogers. He has been acknowledged in several books for his contributions on Roy Rogers and stays in touch with the Rogers family.

Wayne County has a rich history of recorded music as Gennett Records was headquartered here.  Many artists like Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald recorded at Gennett Records, which also pressed the albums. Many artists such as Elvis, Fats Domino, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash are depicted on the mural. Happy Days Records keeps an inventory of records from all genres of artists.

The town of Greens Fork was a party town for artists ‘back in the day.’ Artists would take a train to Greens Fork and walk to Gaylor Hall for fun and libations (even when they weren’t legal). The former Gaylor Hall is now the headquarters for LOI International and all Lauren Originals, Inc. brands.

Artist Ron Deane painted the mural.  He has over twenty years experience painting murals and incorporated many 3D effects within the work. The mural along with several others in the county is entered into the Festival of The Arts contest and currently being voted on. The winner will be revealed in October.

Before the mural, the Happy Days Records building was a point of consternation within the town as it was spray-painted with wording on the side.  It is now a stopping point for people that want to have photos taken and admire the artwork.  Happy Days Records Owner, Perry Robertson, is tickled with the mural as it depicts his favorite cowboy, Roy Rogers, and his love of music. Happy Days Records has over four million records in inventory and over forty jukeboxes. Perry is always buying more records. Travelers from all around the world come to buy from his extensive and rare collection.

Lauren Darr said, “It was a logical move for LOI International from many perspectives. Our headquarters town needed sprucing up. I’m not one to sit around and pontificate on change, but one to make things happen. And, considering we have multiple clients in the broadcast space, it was natural to help a record company considering recorded music’s close ties to broadcast.”

Before and after photos available.

The Ovation TV network has gone “live” on the Storer Information Management System (SIMS) to air world-class music, dance and visual art performances over multiple channels. With roughly 40 million subscribers, Ovation TV selected SIMS as the best possible choice for a reliable and industry tested system that could handle the scheduling of original and acquired programming, as well as manage the amortization and financial reporting of their contractual commitments.

“SIMS simplifies the entire program management process,” says Jay Batista, Chief Operating Officer of StorerTV. “In one unified system, users can easily manage program contracts, schedules, titles, media libraries and finances – allowing for the consolidation of data that greatly reduces repetitive tasks and errors.”

Enhanced features in SIMS, like the drag and drop scheduling function and advanced reporting tools, give Ovation TV the ease of scheduling program titles, media and formats with a single action, and then quickly report on how many plays remain. SIMS also seamlessly integrates with their Orion traffic system, making it possible for programmers to schedule content once, and have it automatically update the traffic schedule.

About StorerTV

For 25 years, StorerTV has been the leading developer of program management software solutions for the television broadcast and cable industry.

StorerTV continues to contribute new technologies that allow media companies to have complete control over their business: from connecting metadata with contract rights and media assets, to creating automated workflows that glue together the entire media factory.

Local TV LLC, Managed by Tribune, Reduces Costs With Scheduling and Contracts

Upgrades to CorporateXpress Module of SIMS from StorerTV

April 28, 2011 – Mequon, Wisconsin, USA – Local TV LLC has begun using the CorporateXpress Module of the Storer Information Management System (SIMS) to handle network scheduling at its stations. Local TV stations air all major network programming, and are under management by the Tribune Company. They required both the ability to oversee scheduling, contract rights and amortization on an individual station-by-station basis as well as at the corporate level.

With the addition of the CorporateXpress module to SIMS, Local TV is now able to input network contracts just once and schedule programming to the appropriate station, significantly reducing redundant work and error. CorporateXpress also automatically adjusts schedules to fit the appropriate time zone of the station, a simple task that took up a lot of people hours. Thus, reducing overall operational costs.

According to Chief Operating Officer for Local TV LLC, Pam Taylor, “We tried reinventing the wheel for a while, but it didn’t quite roll. After analyzing our options it became clear that SIMS does it better than anyone, so we went with the best.”

SIMS is a robust system with years of reliable operations and experience,“ says Peter Storer Jr., President of StorerTV, “When coupled with CorporateXpress, scheduling network affiliate programs and managing programming costs gets a lot easier.”

Currently in its third generation, SIMS is the media program and contract rights management software system most widely used by television broadcasters and cable operations around the world. SIMS integrates with all major traffic systems, and with StorerTV’s new QuantiX metadata and library management system and CentriX media factory workflow engine.

Introduces DTE-3137 Networked DVB-S(2) Satellite Receiver During NA

April 7, 2011 – DekTec is expanding its network appliance range with the DTE-3137 Networked DVB-S(2) Satellite Receiver. This compact device incorporates convenient Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) technology to obsolete the need for an external power supply. The device supports DVBS2 including 16-APSK and 32-APSK constellations, as well as legacy DVB-S signals.

Both legacy and modern broadcast equipment can be served with simultaneous output over ASI and IP. The IP port supports SMPTE 2022-1/2 with 2D FEC encoder for robust transport over IP. The LNB can be powered from PoE. The hardware is controlled by an easy-to-use web-browser-based dashboard. Standard SNMP offers remote control of the unit and error reporting to an SNMP manager. For operator’s convenience, the front of the unit displays Mode, Carrier, Frequency, SNR, BER, and IP/MAC address for easy verification of the signal input(s).

The unit is excellent for use in space-constrained operations as up to 24 modules can be housed in just 3RU rack space by using smart installation onto a DIN rail. DekTec Introduces Versatile HD-SDI PCI Express Cards At NAB

April 7, 2011 by

New Matrix SDK Is Well Suited To Create OEM Applications

April 7, 2011 – In the broadcast market, manufacturers are seeking
flexible solutions to interface HDSDI signals to processing
platforms. To that end, DekTec is introducing the DTA-2148
and DTA2152 multi-standard SDI PCI Express adapters at the
NAB show. The DTA-2148 offers four ports while the DTA-2152
offers two ports. Both products have the capability to cover all
common HD and SD SDI formats. Each port is dynamically
configurable as input or output.

Potential applications for OEMs range from TV production software,
key and fill generators, logo inserters to HD-SDI analysis and
monitoring. The cards also support all DekTec’s standard applications
including encoding, multiplexing, recording, generation, and
monitoring of services. If connectivity to both baseband (SDI) and
compressed signals (MPEG/AVC) is required in a single
piece of hardware, these cards are the ideal engines. The
dedicated Genlock port ensures that the card can be used in any
environment.

To further increase the functionality for broadcasters and OEMs,
DekTec is unveiling the new Matrix SDK, which builds upon DekTec’s
DTAPI that has helped propel many successful third-party products
thus far. Main features of the API includes direct access to the
frames for each input port for a given time instance (the matrix),
and hardware-assisted retrieval of all parts of the video signal
(active video, audio, ancillary data). This potent combination
enables professional grade solutions based on standard PC
platforms, with controlled synchronisation of multiple inputs
and minimal delay.

Stephane Billat, General Manager for DekTec America, commented,
“DekTec is market leader in supplying compressed-video interfacing
cards to system integrators and OEMs. The DTA-2148 and
DTA-2152 give OEMs the additional flexibility needed for HD-SDI
interfacing. Coupling the cards with the new Matrix SDK is a powerful
combination creating a boundless range of opportunities for
broadcasters and OEMs.”

Both the DTA-2148 and DTA-2152 will be on display during the
NAB Show in Las Vegas in the South Upper Hall at Booth SU6202.
Interviews are happily granted and welcomed. Photos available upon
